Favikon Methodology
The Authority Score ⭐
The cumulative “Authority Score” is the sum of points calculated based on different criteria (audience, engagement, views) across various social media platforms of a creator.
Authority Score Tiers 🎖️
The Favikon Authority Score categorizes influence into 10 distinct levels, each representing a different degree of social media impact. This article breaks down what each tier signifies in terms of influence and reach.
Primary Metrics (A, E, V) 🧩
The score is divided into three main metrics:
A. Audience (A)
B. Engagement (E)
C. Views (V)
Each of these has a weight, impacting the overall score.
The final “Authority Score” is calculated by summing up the points across these three categories, resulting here (refer illustration)in a total score of 6,339.
This scorecard evaluates social media influence by considering followers (audience), interactions (engagement), and views (visibility). It highlights areas for improvement in influence. Metrics are based on the centile system, which divides data into 100 equal parts, where each centile represents 1% of the distribution. For instance, the 20th centile shows that 20% of the data falls below that point.
Key Metrics
• Total Audience: 32K followers
• Total Engagement: 1.2K interactions
• Total Views: 12.9K views
Scoring Levels
Each category (Audience, Engagement, Views) has a corresponding threshold, with a maximum possible threshold of 10,000.
• Audience Threshold: 5,943 (Next threshold at 11 followers gained)
• Engagement Level: 6,701 (Next level at 1.262K additional engagement)
• Views Level: 6,380 (Next level at 12.986K additional views)
Points Allocation
Each level contributes points towards the total Authority Score:
• Audience Points (A)= 2002
• Engagement Points (E)= 2209
• Views Points (V)= 2127
Authority Score
Authority Score is derived from the sum of these 3 components (A+E+V).
Authority Score = Points (A) + Points (E) + Points (V)
Other Adjustments (D)
Bonus 👍
We reward certain behaviors, and we'd love to share what they are, but for now we would like to keep it a bit secret🤫.
Penalty 👎
Our mission is to spotlight meaningful creators. We actively discourage behaviors that violate ethical digital standards or manipulate social media performance through unethical or unconventional methods, as these can harm brands, creators, and their audiences.
This message indicates that the creator account has been penalized due to the detection of suspicious activity or content. The types of behaviors that can trigger such a penalty include:
• Cheating: Engaging in dishonest practices to artificially boost metrics, such as using bots or fake accounts.
• Engagement Pods: Participating in groups where users artificially boost each other’s engagement (likes, comments, shares) to manipulate metrics.
• Plagiarizing: Copying content from other creators without appropriate credit or necessary permission or consent for reproduction.
• Mass Content Posting: Posting an excessive amount of content in a short period, which could be perceived as spammy or inauthentic.
As a result of these activities, the score for this LinkedIn account has been significantly lowered to 45.8/100, despite the high scores in Audience and Activity. The penalty reflects a reduction in trust and credibility due to the detected behavior.
Final Authority Score ⭐
Final Authority Score = A(Audience) + E(Engagement) + V(Views) ± D(Adjustments)
Where:
- A represents the Audience score,
- E represents the Engagement score,
- V represents the Views score,
- D represents any Adjustments (positive or negative) that may apply.
Summary
The Authority Score is a comprehensive metric designed to measure a creator’s social media influence based on key factors like audience size, engagement, and views. It adds significant value by helping brands identify impactful creators and offering creators insights into their digital presence. The score promotes transparency and fairness across platforms. However, in rare cases, there may be statistical deviations from best practices that do not fully capture a creator’s true influence. We sincerely apologize for any such instances and are committed to constantly improving the system to best reflect a creator's authority.
