Imagine getting paid to post content online. Sounds like a dream? Well, this is what thousands of influencers are doing every day. Do you know what the best part is? You could do it too. If they made it, so can you! These influencers started from nothing and managed to build a strong community and gain thousands, even millions of followers. Although, success is a mix of different factors: luck, right timing… Some tips and tricks help you become more successful on social media. And even if you are not looking to become an influencer, I’m sure these tips can help you take your social media accounts to the next level.
6 tips to become a content creator
Find your niche
If you want to become an influencer, you have to see yourself as a brand. What kind of image do you want to have? What’s your target audience? What type of content do you want to produce? On which social media?
The first step in defining your strategy is to find your niche. There are millions of influencers in the world, if you don’t find your niche, it will be hard for you to stand out. Finding your niche shouldn’t be too hard. Most influencers usually focus on their habits and passion.

For instance, Lena Situations was a huge fashion addict. So she studied fashion. Inevitably, she created a YouTube channel around fashion. Another example would be Pamela Reif, a fitness enthusiast who became famous for sharing gym and workout routines.
Eventually, when influencers have millions of followers, they diversify their content. But when you start, it is better to have a niche as it will help people identify you quickly and make it easier for you to gain popularity.
Once you have found your niche, you can start thinking and researching content that will be appealing to your target audience.
Develop a unique concept on your social networks
Great, you have found your niche! Now you need to think of your content. Don’t hesitate to do a benchmark of your potential competitors to get some ideas and inspiration.
However, the secret to success is creating your own concept and image. Don’t worry, you don’t have to find a whole new trend, but you need to create THAT little something that will make people remember you. It can be a silly catchphrase, a series of videos, the style of your video… This is mostly about branding.
For example, Emily Mariko has more than 11M followers on TikTok. You can easily identify her style of video. Her videos are always about cooking in a calm environment, and she never adds any additional sounds.
Youtuber Bailey Sarian is known for her series of videos, “True crime and makeup,” in which she tells a true crime story while getting ready and showing her makeup routine.
Creating your own recurrent concept will make you more identifiable among the thousands of contents created daily.
Create and post authentic content
Another essential thing to remember is to create authentic content. If you force yourself or create content that isn’t you, people will see it. These past years especially, being authentic is what is working. If TikTok has become such an important platform, it is because people relate to the content and the TikTok creators. Far from the over-filtered Instagram pictures that we used to see a few years ago, TikTok is about showing your true self.
Build your business with social networks
Work with brands you love
Nowadays, you don’t need millions of followers to work with brands. So if you have just started your account, brands might contact you. As exciting as it might seem, don’t get fooled by all these partnership offers. You might be tempted to accept every collaboration because you are just beginning on social media, but that could easily become a terrible experience.
So here’s my advice. First, check the brand’s website and social media. Do their products look appealing to you? Could you see yourself using them? If so, make sure to see if their website and social media look legit. Have they done influencer collabs before? Where are their products made?
If everything seems good, you can start discussing prices with them. Know your worth! You don’t have to diminish yourself because it is your first partnership.
Remember, you can always contact brands directly and ask them if they would like to collaborate with you. It is perfectly normal, and it can even lead to fantastic collaborations, as you would certainly select brands that you love.
Optimize your social media profiles
Creating awesome content is fantastic, but you must also consider the other aspects of your account. For instance, it is important to have an attractive bio. Your bio should let people know what your account is about in just a few words or sentences. If you are just starting out as a nano influencer, don’t hesitate to indicate you are a content creator in your bio. By doing that, brands will know they can contact you for a collaboration.
Another important aspect is the use of hashtags. I’m sure you want your content to be seen by the maximum number of people. Using the right hashtags is key for that. Try to find hashtags that match your niche and avoid broad ones.
All in all, focus on:
🌈 Creating an attractive bio
🎯 Selecting niche hashtags
👑 Acting like a real influencer
